Luxurious stabbur suites at Nermo Hotel – with textiles from a local Norwegian producer

Historical Nermo Hotel in Hafjell has crafted a unique experience with its newly renovated stabbur suites, where traditional Norwegian architecture meets modern luxury and comfort. As part of this exclusive project, the hotel has partnered with Gudbrandsdalens Uldvarefabrik (GU) to supply textiles for curtains and upholstery – a thoughtful choice that highlights local heritage, exceptional quality, and a commitment to sustainability.

With carefully considered details, the interior has achieved a modern expression while preserving the buildings' history.
Tradition meets innovation
The two historic stabbur buildings, which have stood on the farm for over 150 years, have been transformed into elegant suites for guests seeking a stay that combines authenticity with modern amenities. The interiors reflect a perfect balance between preserving the past and offering contemporary style, with textiles playing a central role in creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Locally sourced textiles
Curtains and upholstery fabrics from Gudbrandsdalens Uldvarefabrik were handpicked for the project. The choice landed on the wool textile Bardal. Known for its quality and durability, this textile adds an exclusive touch to the interior. Additionally, the decision aligns with the hotel’s commitment to collaborating with local suppliers and contributing to sustainable development in the region.
– We wanted materials that both reflected the building's history and could withstand the wear and tear of hotel operations. GU’s textiles met both criteria and helped create a cohesive design, says Johannes Nermo, fifth-generation owner of the hotel.
A sustainable investment
By choosing Norwegian-made textiles, Nermo Hotel reduces its environmental footprint while supporting local producers. GU’s manufacturing process prioritizes sustainability, minimizing waste and utilizing natural materials. This aligns with the hotel’s broader goal of offering environmentally responsible luxury experiences.

The stabbur suites offer a unique atmosphere that appeals to both Norwegian and international guests.
