Inspiration
Gandal is designed by Per Bjørnsen in collaboration with Skeie Seating. For generations, Skeie has produced and supplied chairs for plenary halls all over the world. The textile has been specially developed for use in public environments such as cinemas, theaters and auditoriums. Of course, it is also excellent for office furniture.
Gandal is jacquard woven with a smooth and soft surface. It has a very special structure that is highlighted by 52 beautiful three-dimensional color combinations. The color series is created by our skilled and award-winning in-house designer Ragnhild Nordhagen in collaboration with color and material expert Christiane Müller from the Amsterdam-based industrial and interior design studio Müller van Toll.
The textile is very durable and easy to maintain. With regular cleaning, it stays good year after year. Gandal is a popular fabric that is often chosen for environments that require hard-wearing fabrics.
Technical characteristics
Gandal is jacquard woven with a grosgrain binding. The weft is worsted in 100% wool and the warp is 85% wool / 15% PA (Polyamide). The polyamide is a technical reinforcement in the warp, which makes it possible to have a thin warp without sacrificing strength. The polyamide makes up 4% of the total composition.
Gandal has 80.000 in Martindale, is IMO certified and meets fire requirements without the use of chemicals. Amdal is also certified according to the requirements of the EU Ecolabel (EU Blomsten), which guarantees:
• Limited use of environmentally harmful substances
• Limited substances harmful to health
• Reduced water and air pollution
